Lots of fun guaranteed with this diy macramé plant hanger. Very cute as a gift!
You will need the following products to create this
As preparation, cut the following lengths: 8 x 5.5 m + 1 x 3 m + 1 x 1
Fold the 8 pieces of rope in half and tie them together temporarily.
The resulting loop is about 12 cm.
We will now strengthen the loop.
Take the 3m cord and tie a larks head knot, then continue left and right with a vertical larks head knot.
See illustration.
Remove the tape. See illustration.
Now make a gathering knot. To do this, take a 1 m piece of cord.
The ends can be cut off.
Split the 16 threads into groups of 4 threads.
Tie 3 groups temporarily, which works smoother.
Start with the weasel base knot.
Keep two base wires in the middle. Take the right working wire, go to the left across the two middle base wires but under the left working wire.
Now take the left working wire, go to the right under the right working wire and under the two middle wires and slip through the resulting loop on the right.
Pull evenly. Repeat this process but now start with the left working thread. Keep repeating this until you have a length of 12 cm. Do the same with the other three strands of cord.
Leave a 3 cm space and start with the twisted weitas knot.
Start with a regular weitas knot along the left side.
Instead of taking the thread on the other side, always take the thread on the left side and execute the weitas knot.
Do this 6 times.
Then take the left strand and place it on the right. The strand has now made a half-turn to the left.
You can see this a little more clearly in the photos (see yellow markings). Continue like this until you have a length of 12 cm.
Do the same with the other three strands.
Leave a space of 10 cm. Divide the strands as explained in the illustration.
So take two threads each from the adjacent strand.
Make 4 weitas knots each time.
Make 4 weitas knots each time.
Leave a space of 5 cm.
Do as in the previous phase. So take two strands from the adjacent strands each time.
Again, make 4 weitas knots.
Take all strands together and make a firm knot.
Cut at desired distance.
Here, we used macramé rope of 2 mm thickness for a plant pot of 10 cm height.
